Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) is a high-speed data storage interface designed for high-throughput and fast data access. Intended primarily for data storage centers, the SAS interface is backwards compatible with SATA. This allows the user to mix more expensive, lower-capacity SAS drives for applications that require faster data access and higher reliability, with lower-cost, higher-capacity SATA drives for applications with lower access speed requirements. SFF-8087 Cable : Mini SAS Cables

Internal MiniSAS Multilane 4X SAS cables will connect your internal HBAs, RAID controllers, expanders or adapters with hard drives, tape drives and backplanes. All multilane connectors have 4-channels, that is, they are capable of driving 4 devices (or more with use of an expander) and can fan-out to single channel connections.

These SFF-8643 cables use 36-pin connectors and run at 12Gb/s.
SFF-8643 is the internal version of SFF-8644. Both are called a "High Density 36-pin Mini-SAS Cable."
Custom SFF-8643 Mini-SAS cables are available in various configurations and other options.
